The thought of building your portfolio might feel overwhelming, but trust me, it doesn’t have to be. The first step is simple: plan. You don’t need to know all the technical details right away, but having a clear vision of what you want to show is crucial.

Here’s a quick guide to help you plan:

Define Your Goal: Think about the jobs you want. Are you looking to work in social media marketing, content creation, SEO, or something else? Your portfolio should align with the type of job you're after, so make sure the work you showcase is relevant.

Choose Your Projects Wisely: Start by selecting 3-5 projects that highlight your skills. These can be from class assignments, personal projects, internships, or even freelance work. Remember, it’s about quality, not quantity. Focus on projects that are measurable – did you increase engagement? Improve conversions? Show the impact of your work with metrics.

Decide on the Structure: Your portfolio website doesn’t need to be complicated. I suggest starting with these key sections:

  • Home page: Brief intro about who you are and what you do.

  • About me: A short bio and your story (this is your chance to show your personality).

  • Portfolio page: Showcase your work. Include case studies, campaigns, or content samples.

  • Contact page: How potential employers can reach you.

  • Blog (optional): If you’re passionate about writing or sharing insights, include a blog to showcase your thought leadership.

Here is my blog page structure example:

Pick a Platform: If you’re just starting out, there are plenty of free or low-cost platforms where you can create your portfolio with ease. WordPress, Behance, and even Canva have templates to make this process much smoother.
